5 TV shows we don’t want in 2009!

worst shows on indian tv channels

MTV Roadies: I have seriously had enough of this bald, self obsessed Raghu Ram for six years now. Too add insult to injury his twin bald brother came out from nowhere after five years of the show’s existence. Same old therapies and same old vote-out dramas. Somehow the adventure and being on the road part has disappeared over the year. Boo ya guys!

Oye It’s Friday: The show has just started and it’s already helping chemists sell headache pills. Farhan Akhtar may be the stud of the century, the jack of all trades but he’s certainly not in a good spot here. The show is extremely irritating to say the least. The jokes are straight out of the garbage can. The celebrities on the show have also failed to add to the highly anticipated spark.

Farhan Akhtar in OyeItsFriday!

farhan akhta's latest show oyeitsfriday

Seems like Farhan Akhtar is putting in a lot of dough into unleashing his hidden super powers. We’ve seen him direct, produce, act and sing in films. Now he’s all set to host his own TV show called OyeItsFriday! The show will broadcast weekly on NDTV Imagine.

OyeItsFriday will hit TV screens across the nation on December 12. Farhan seems to be really excited about it. Why shouldn’t he be? He has has a super year. After the success of Rock On, Farhan hasn’t looked back. The one hour show will feature various Bollywood celebrities being quizzed by Farhan. I hope it’s not on the lines of Koffee With Karan. Read as gay Karan. The first show will feature Hrithik Roshan and performances by Neha Dhupia and Hard Kaur.

Here is a sneak preview:

5 Reasons to skip MTV Roadies 6!

mtv roadies 6

++ Raghu Ram is still bald. (Oh come on! It has been sexy years Raghu.)

++ One Raghu was more than enough. A twin is impossible to tolerate.

++ The show has turned way too predictable.

++ Somehow the adventure part of the show is being killed for the purpose of TRPs.

++ The prize money is surprisingly in multiples of 5 Lakhs. It’s national television for God sake! Don’t shout out loud unless you’re close to a Crore.

Bharti Airtel DTH Launching in October

bharti airtel dth services launch

I just happened to come across a showcase tagged Airtel Digitial TV while paying an Airtel mobile phone bill.. It wore an empty look for obvious reasons. I had no idea Bharti Airtel was launching their DTH services across the nation. If they had that display panel ready, they must be on the verge of launching their DTH services. Excited, I came back home and did some Googling on the whole thing. It seems Airtel is indeed coming out with their DTH services in the month of October. That’ll be a soft launch. They do plan to launch their services in full swing before the end of this year.

Now that’s some hot news for the DTH world. With Reliance jumping in with their Big TV DTH services, Tata Sky struggling to hold on to consumers with attractive packages and Dish TV trying to make the maximum out of Shah Rukh Khan, here comes another player and a very major player I must say.

Come on Airtel kick some DTH ass!
