Finally managed to get my hands around the all new Samsung Galaxy SIII. Boy! It does feel super light, much lighter than my Nexus S. Somehow I expected this monster (yes, it’s huge) to weigh slightly heavier. It looks like Note’s younger sibling but I’ll still say it is a little too big to be a phone. It’s been a long time since I did a preview on a Bollywood flick. Although Bollywood hasn’t changed much but there are a few movies that stand out every once in a while. The Dirty Picture seems like one of those movies you just cannot skip. The movie is loosely based on the life of South Indian actress (or siren as they like to call her) Silk Smitha. Vidya Balan along with Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi in are in the lead roles. The Dirty Picture is releasing this Friday on 2nd December 2011. The date also happens to be the birth anniversary of Smitha. Continue reading “Movie Preview: The Dirty Picture”
Looks like Microsoft’s Zune Phone, the Project Pink ‘Turtle’ phone, has arrived at FCC for approval. It seems like Microsoft has partnered with Sharp to make the Microsoft phone for them. This may be one of the Pink devices Microsoft plans to launch in the near future. Whether Microsoft will launch the ‘Turtle’ phone during Mobile World Conference this year is still a question on everyone’s mind.
If you take a look at Sharp’s application for the phone it is indeed similar to the phone Gizmodo revealed some time around last year.
Things are indeed getting pretty interesting now. Will Apple’s Steve Jobs admitting how Google might be trying to kill the iPhone with it’s Nexus One, I really wanna see how he sees Microsoft’s plan on making it to the smartphone sector with it’s Pink devices. I guess we’ll have to wait for the Mobile World Congress.
At a time when I believe Amazon Kindle might be having nightmares about the much dreaded Apple Tablet launch, here’s a desi challenge. Infibeam, an Indian online shopping portal, has announced an e-book reader called Infibeam Pi. The new e-book reader looks very similar to Amazon’s Kindle which has been around for a while now. Infibeam is now taking pre-orders for it’s Pi device at Rs. 999 (around $20). The device is priced at Rs. 9999 (around $220).
Infibeam Pi is a slim and light e-book reader. It supports major Indian regional languages such as Hindi, Sanskrit etc. The company claims the device can store up to 500 e-books using it’s internal memory of 512 MB. Infibeam Pi has a SD car slot as well. You can store and listen to your music as well, Pi features a 3 mm stereo earphone connector (3 mm is strange, I’ve seen 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm but 3 mm? Anyways it could be a typo as well). I’ve shot the company a mail about this. The battery can run up to 7 days if left idle and comes with a charging time of 4 hours. The major let down is the screen. The screen is a 6″ E Ink® Vizplex with no backlight. Continue reading “Infibeam Pi – The Desi Amazon Kindle”
Now that the promo for the Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots is finally out, I expect Aamir to pull out some more stunts from his pocket and throw it at the public. The recent Facebook ‘Pucca Idiot’ may not have gone too far but you never know when it’s Aamir Khan. I don’t care if you start smoking again Aamir or call another actor an animal, I want this one to be worth the multiplex moolah.
The promo looks slick even though it lacks the Munnabhai touch to it but then Aamir is not another Munnabhai and 3 Idiots is the most anticipated film of the year. The film hits theaters worldwide on December 25. That’s a lot of time. For now I’ll keep an ear on the soundtrack release.
Akshay Kumar possesses some super natural powers in his next Bollywood flick and surprisingly it has got nothing to do with tickling your funny bone. Akshay’s next is a thriller which has been directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. The film also stars newly wed Ayesha Takia along with Sharmila Tagore, Javed Jaffrey and Pia Shah in supporting roles. The film has been mostly shot in Canada. The soundtrack for the film has been composed by Salim-Sulaiman. I’m certainly looking forward to it! Percept Picture Company and T-Series have jointly produced this film. The film’s plot revolves around Akshay Kumar’s character which has a super natural power of going into the past via 8 X 10 sized photographs. And it’s only from one such photograph that he discovers his father’s murderer. I wonder why only 8 X 10 photographs? I guess they’re big enough to get in. Eh? I guess Nagesh Kukunoor will need to justify the plot with some seriously good amount of reasoning. As of now, I’ll say you wait for the soundtrack. Also the movie does seem quite interesting after watching the promos. Will Akshay and Nagesh manage to disappoint Bollywood lovers with this flick? I hope not!
Akshay Kumar is all set to hit the small screen with Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 2 later this year on Colors channel. Akshay has had a tough time convincing people to watch his flick CC2C which went down badly at the box office. Khatron Ke Khiladi is the Indian version of Fear Factor and this would be the second season, titled ‘Level 2’. The show comprises of only female contestants. Or divas as the show claims.
