It appears that Prometric has sent letters to CAT 2009 aspirants. It appears that the letter contains a personal note on why Prometric failed at providing a perfect student experience and also possible chances of a re-test. We’ve got hold of one of these letters and posted them here. We wish all the students good luck for their MBA entrance. Check out the complete letter here.

What a 3 hour Maths Exam taught me!

in college

Funny notes from a Maths Exam

Maths can be quite frustrating. To me it’s like you double the frustrating and you multiply it with infinity. As I sit down to give a Maths exam there are more than just butterflies  in my stomach. It’s a whole jungle in there man! As the question paper is handed out, I take one look at it. Jesus Christ! This is a Chinese language exam or what? Dude you’re in the wrong room is what I tell myself. But wait it does have Maths written in all capitals at the top. So this must really be the right place. Everything settles down and the bell rings. Suddenly the kids go insane. They open up their answer booklets and it pretty much looks like they are competing for some sort of a racing competition. Anyways I look at the fine pieces of paper I have on my desk and feel so helpless. But it’s education dude! It teaches you something for sure. However irrelevant it may be, the Education system we have in our country can teach you a lot!

Here’s what I learnt from my Maths Exam today:

++ They lie to you at school. They tell you that Maths is just numbers and how you play with them and do really cool stuff with them. Enter college and Maths is actually one big monster!

++ You can really do a lot of exercises while sitting in the exam room. Look at the kid on your left and then look at the kid on your right. Repeat this 4-5 times and it sure feels good!

++ Simplex method of solving linear programming problems has nothing to do with being simple. Simplex is just another scam!

++ The probability that you will mess up badly in the Probability section is really huge!

++ There are so many cool terms in Maths! Integrals, differentials, functions and so many theorems named after people whose names sound so cool!

++ Cello Pens have a R&D center in Germany. Their ink comes from Japan. See even we Indians outsource!

++ Examinations should be conducted on computers. The current system really wastes a lot of paper. I mean a lot of paper.

++ There is one whole page of instructions written both on Hindi and in English in the answer booklet. Yes you all know that but how many of you did actually read each one of them?!

++ Our university does not allow Scientific Calculators, Cell phones and iPods in the exam room. Now that’s specifically an iPod. I wonder if the examination controller really hates Apple or sells Chinese iPod rip offs at Nehru Place.

++ A lot of people think I am intelligent. Now I know they’re just kidding!

++ I realized I’m so creative. I thought about some blogging ideas, an Orkut or a Facebook application I could write, the podcast I’m going to start next month, a few romantic notes and so much!

++ You could really do a lot of cool stuff using the question paper. Mix and match words, here and there, add your own snippets and sometimes it does come out funny!

Harry’s Guide to Surviving an Exam!

March 13, 2008

Exam time is hard time. It’s not easy. Not easy at all! I mean surviving until it’s half time is like really a pain in the ass. You look down. You don’t know a thing. You look around and everyone is busy scribbling something alien to you. Something they promised they didn’t prepare, just before [...]
