Dostana’s music is finally here. Karan Johar’s latest flick Dostana is the most awaited film of the year. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham in lead roles. Dostana has been directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The music has been composed by Vishal Shekhar. Where are Shankar Ehsaan Loy? Has Karan run out of money? The expectations from a Karan Johar movie are always Godzilla huge. So does Karan impress his followers with the music this time? Well let’s check out!
As far as the movie is concerned it’s a soft romantic comedy about three youngsters. Abhishek and John sport a gay relationship in the movie. Is Karan on his way to prove something on the gay front like he promoted ultra stupid extra marital affairs in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna? I should shut up and talk about music now!
Track Listing
Dostana – 01 – Jaane Kyun
Dostana – 02 – Desi Girl
Dostana – 03 – Maa Da Laadla
Dostana – 04 – Shut Up & Bounce
Dostana – 05 – Khabar Nahi
Dostana – 06 – Kuch Kum
Karan Johar is very particular about the music in his movies. Most of his tracks become anthems on the Indian music charts. Dostana begins with Jaane Kyun. A perfect title track for the movie. A mix of this and that with catchy lyrics has already got this song popular with the youth. Desi Girl is a perfect Shankar Mahadevan track. You get that Pretty Woman from Kal Ho Na Ho feel. Maa Da Laadla sung by Salim is a naughty number. From the lyrics you can make out it’s a fun song on the gay relationship theme in the movie. Salim has a unique voice and I simply love this dude! Did you ask for a dance number? Shut Up and Dance doesn’t say it’s time to disco but it’s a failed attempt to create that same spark. Khabar Nahi is a slow track featuring Vishal Dadlani, Shreya Goshal and Amanat Ali. A decent tolerable song. The soundtrack comes to an end with Kuch Kum. Too slow for my liking but Shaan’s fans would like this.
On the whole an album worth checking out if you’re into typical Bollywood soundtracks. Don’t expect a master piece.
