Music Review: Luck By Chance

luck by chance music review

Farhan Akhtar is striking the silver screen once again, after the refreshing Rock On, in Zoya Akhtar’s flick Luck By Chance. He is not singing in the movie and he’s obviously not playing a rock star. You’ll still get to see Farhan, the actor, in the movie which I am sure we all loved in Rock On! Luck By Chance is another Excel Entertainment venture. The film has been written and directed by Zoya Akhtar. The lyrics have been penned by big daddy Javed Akhtar of course. The music has been composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. Luck By Chance is a movie on struggling actors in Bollywood, their dreams and aspirations to strike gold in the industry. We all have big hopes for the movie but let’s talk music for now.

Yeh Zindagi Bhi

The soundtrack begins with this wonderful track sung by Loy Mendonsa and Shekhar Ravjiani. Yes they sound alien to me as well but they’re good at what they do. The lyrics are just right and the music has that feel good factor as well. A perfect song for those mood swings!

Baawre

Loy Mendonsa teams up with Shankar Mahadevan in this second track. This is the song they’re using for the promos currently on TV. The song is a trip to the big Bollywood land. A lovable track!

Pyaar Ki Dastaan

A romantic song in a Bollywood flick which is on a Bollywood theme isn’t rocket science. Pyaar Ki Dastaan has been sung by Amit Paul and Mahalakshmi Iyer. It may not be the best romantic song of the year but it has that special touch to it. Javed’s lyrics are always special and meaningful and when they’re backed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy’s music it’s just a perfect combination.

Yeh Aaj Kya Ho Gaya

Talk about a feel good factor and here’s another track to celebrate life. Sunidhi Chauhan sings this refreshing song Yeh Aaj Kya Ho Gaya. The music is just so smooth. Sunidhi does full justice to the song. One of my favorite songs of the year!

Sapnon Se Bhare Naina

A film on aspirations and thus a song to showcase the same. Shankar Mahadevan lends the vocals for this track. A decent track as this time the music beats the lyrics.

O Rahi Re

I’m really loving this soundtrack! Shankar Mahadevan returns with a silky smooth track O Rahi Re and takes away my vote for the ‘Coolest Soundtrack of the Year‘. The lyrics are brilliant and the music is super awesome.

On the Whole: Luck By Chance is what Farhan Akhtar stands for in Bollywood, quality. A perfect soundtrack with smooth medium paced tracks and a lot of feel good factor. This soundtrack is a reason why I’d prefer a Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy soundtrack over AR Rahman.

Rating: 4/5

Loy & Shekhar sound alien to you!!!!

Loy is a part of the composer trio for this very soundtrack..shankar and ehsaan being the other 2..

shekhar is one half of the vishal-shekhar duo..i’m sure u’ve heard of them as well..even if u don’t listen to bolly music somewhat regularly..

I like Rahman too but I don’t know why he seems to be having a bad time at creating some good music.

guys Amit Paul has done a BAD job .Its BAD with every letter in caps.Methinks he has long way to go to be called a mature singer.
But thats just my opinion.

dude, the last line is absolutely correct ar rhamna is getting much over hyped and in the midst the ultimate genius of music shankar ehsaan loy are not getting the respect they deserve…great review but according to me pyaar ki daastan is a terrific an it beautifully mixes with the picturisation
