Music Review: Chandni Chowk to China!

in Music,featured

Chandni Chowk to China is one movie that could have made Diwali better for Bollywood freaks. It was disappointing to see them postpone the movie from Diwali to January next year. For those who tuned in late, Chandni Chowk to China or CC2C is directed by Nikhil Advani and stars Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. The film will be Warner Bros. second film in Bollywood. The film would be good no doubt. While we wait for the movie, the music is out now. Let’s take a look!

The soundtrack has been composed by several music directors which is a good thing. The composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Kailash-Paresh-Naresh, Bappi Lahiri-Bappa Lahiri and Bohemia are all well known. The soundtrack comprises of 8 tracks. This includes two remixes.

chandni chowk to china music review

Track Listing:

  • S.I.D.H.U: Kailash Kher
  • Chandni Chowk To China: Neeraj Shridhar, Anushka Manchanda, Shankar Mahadevan
  • India Se Aaya Tera Dost (Aap Ki Khatir): Bappi Lahiri, Ravi K Tripathi
  • Tere Naina: Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal
  • Chak Lein De: Kailash Kher
  • Chandni Chowk To China(CC2C): Akshay Kumar, Bohemia (musician)
  • Chandni Chowk To China: Remix by Dj Amyth
  • Chak Lein De: Remix by Dj Amyth

The soundtrack starts off with S.I.D.H.U. The song aims at sketching the character of Sidhu played by Akshay Kumar. A typical Kailash-Paresh-Naresh melody with a good feeling. The next track Chandni Chowk to China is what mainstream Bollywood is all about. Catchy, saucy lyrics and Neeraj Shridhar, Anushka Manchanda, Shankar Mahadevan make it a hit! Kailash Kher returns in the next track with Chak Lein De. A morale booster type of song, again it’s another typical Kailash Kher melody. Quite good. What is a Bollywood soundtrack without a romantic song? The next track Tere Naina is the romantic track with loads of extra suger. Shreya Goshal makes the song special as well. A great track! The next track India Se Aaya Tera Dost by Bappi Lahiri is a waste of time. Skip it. Next comes the track I have been waiting to lend my ears to. Bohemia and Bollywood? Interesting! Bohemia composed this track and wrote the lyrics as well but he isn’t the main singer. Akshay Kumar doesn’t disappoint either. I heard the version sung by Bohemia entirely on the net and it did sound much better. But then going by the lyrics it was supposed to be an Akshay track. I don’t listen to the remix tracks in any Bollywood album but I gave these a try. The last two remix tracks are worth the money especially Chak Lein De remix.

Overall an album worth the money. I’ll give it 4/5!
