Reliance has recently launched it’s high speed wireless broadband service called Netconnect Broadband Plus in India. Reliance claims that Netconnect Broadband Plus is India’s fastest Internet service. It offers a download speed of around 3.1 Mbps and an upload speed of 1.8 Mbps. Seems pretty decent knowing it’s a wireless service. Netconnect Broadband Plus is available in 35 cities with some 20,000 towns across the country.
The service is powered by the Reliance CDMA network. Currently Reliance is offering two plug and play devices for connectivity. These USB modems are priced at around Rs. 3500. The subscription plans are somewhat flexible and starting from Rs. 299. There are night unlimited packages as well as 24X7 unlimited data transfer packages available as well. Users can buy these USB modems and subscribe to the service from March 17.
Reliance doesn’t carry a very good image as far as providing wireless connectivity is concerned. I have tried out their Netconnect wireless Internet access service and trust me it reminds you of those slow-old dial-up days. Whether Reliance will be able to take off that image entirely is what needs to be seen here. I wouldn’t advise anyone to make the switch as of now. If Reliance manages to pull this one off then it could become one of the best modes of remote connectivity provided the speeds remain decent.
