AT&T announced the Apple iPhone 3G pricing today. The iPhone 3G is supposed to go on sale in US on 11th July.
New subscribers and legit upgraders will be getting the new 8GB version for $199, or another $100 on top for the 16GB variety. The asking price for current AT&T customers who are not eligible for an upgrade is $399 for the 8GB model and $499 for the 16GB model. contract-free iPhone 3G gets mentioned as well, though there’s no actual commitment to a release date. Pricing goes $599 (8GB) and $699 (16GB).
Prospective customers have already lined up in India. Everyone is interested to know the price of Apple iPhone 3G in India. The iPhone 3G will be sold by both Airtel and Vodafone in India. It’s quite evident that no Indian telecom company shall subsidize the iPhone price in India. The iPhone could be priced somewhere in the premium band of around Rs. 25,000-30,000. Even if Apple is able to get a 1% share of the Indian mobile phone market, it will sell a million iPhones!

Apple iPhone is still not available in India as yet. When it will, it could be sold anywhere between Rs. 20-30k. Both Vodafone and Airtel will be selling the iPhone in India. Vodafone claims it will sell unlocked phones at their stores while Airtel has made no comments about this as of now. Airtel has started online booking for iPhone. Although it’s more of a marketing stunt!

I got it! Now this is not official as yet but yes you guys can have the clear ideas about what will be the price of Apple iPhone 3G in India.
Airtel: Will sell iPhone 3G with call plans just like it is selling BlackBerry. Since 3G is not here so don’t expect any good data plans. iPhone 3G Airtel price would be Rs. 20-25k depending on plan.
Vodafone: Will sell unlocked Apple iPhone 3G at a profit. Expect a price range of Rs. 24-30k for unlocked 8GB sets.

the way iPhones features are revolutionary and the price is justified.iphone features is better than others,if i comare with
Nokia 95 or blackberry because the oyher markets which are
available with the same features or similar features were/are also priced very high. Eg Nokia E 90 @ >Rs.30000/- Nokia N 95
.Rs.25000, HTC Touch diamond @ Rs.27500/-, Samsung Omania @ Rs. 35 K plus, BlackBerry 8820 @32000.

So, finally comapny understood mindset and problem of common man of not want to spend such a big amount of Rs. 31000/36000 to buy an iphone and made it available through EMI with tying up with few banks. I saw this info on iphone section of airtel site (http://www.airtel.in/iphone3g)

Unlocked iPhones could now be purchased, meaning you don’t need to use a TurboSim or Yessim, You can find them on Ebay, they go for about $700-$800 USD
