airtel broadband ipl live

Airtel Broadband has decided to play Broadband-God during this season of IPL. Airtel has announced that it will automatically upgrade all it’s subscribers, irrespective of their current tariff plan, to 2 mbps for watching live stream of IPL on YouTube. Airtel broadband had recently also played Santa Claus while providing double the amount of promised data access speeds to all it’s users.

So it means I’ll be able to watch IPL on YouTube via Airtel Broadband without any buffer signs. With a 2 mbps line I am not even bothered about the 5 minute delay on all the IPL live coverage on YouTube. It works just fine unless you’re on Twitter and you get to know about a wicket falling and it ruins your stream. So stay off Twitter while watching the match.

Airtel Broadband seems to have doubled speeds for all it’s users. I have confirmed the same from users based in Chandigarh, Gurgaon, New Delhi/NCR and parts of Punjab. It could be a totally North Indian thing but until there’s an official word from Airtel there’s no proper way to explain this phenomenon.

My 256 kbps connection has been steadily giving me a sleek 512 kbps speed for the past one week now. I really hope Airtel isn’t messing with us so that we just end up consuming the data cap under FUP and they choke us for the rest of the month on 128 kbps speeds. I don’t think it’s a possibility with Airtel.

Now let me raise your hopes. I hope Airtel is experimenting how doubling the speeds for broadband users across the country will affect it or may be it’s a load-test. Whatever it is Airtel’s certainly got all it’s users happy! I hope this party never ends.
