Nokia N96 is the iPhone3G Killer!

Apple, Vodafone and Airtel have broken a lot of hearts with their iPhone 3G pricing plans for India. Rich kids, Baabus with a lot of under-the-table money, Bollywood film stars and Paris Hilton clones in India would be the only few who’ll be buying the iPhone 3G in India initially. The common man is scared of the iPhone 3G. The price might come down when the moron honchos up there realize the gravity of the situation but I am seriously unhappy with Apple. Apple is supposed to be closely monitoring and guiding both Vodafone and Airtel on the pricing. I’m so freaked out that I have decided to never buy an Apple product ever.

iPhone 3G killer phone is the latest buzz around. Every major mobile phone manufacturer is busy bringing their own version to the market as soon as possible. These specially work in markets where people are not able to afford the iPhone 3G or when it hasn’t been launched there. LG and Samsung have already launched iPhone look alike phones in the market. So far none of them have come closer to the standards Apple set with their first mobile phone iPhone.

Nokia is bringing on the heat to the exploding iPhone killer market with their latest entrant N96. It’s a part of their range of NSeries smart phones. A first look at N96 reveals a really cool phone. A smart alternative to the Apple iPhone 3G. In fact I find it much better than Apple iPhone 3G as far as features are concerned. Of course functionality will matter and we’ll know about it only once the N96 comes out. Nokia’s NSeries phones are known to have software issues and a crappy degradation over a small time.

N96 features some really cool features. Some of them people needed desperately on Apple iPhone 3G.

With 16GB of internal memory, N96 is a complete package an iPhone 3G killer must have. Now comes the question of pricing. Online sources claim it could be anywhere between Rs. 25000-30000. The pricing could be a major factor considering the iPhone 3G launch in India. I expect Nokia will price N96 close to the iPhone 3G price in India.

Come on Nokia! Kill the iPhone 3G!

I kinda had the same feeling when the IPhone came out here in the US for the first time. The price tag was exorbitant. Besides, you had to get a contract with AT&T if you want the IPhone. I didnt wanna switch my cell phone provider. So eventually, I ended up buying and ipod touch. Its no different from an IPhone, except you can’t make calls. You can do everything else, even surf the internet if you have wifi (which I do). And trust me, I’m not spending any more of my hard earned greens on an apple product. They aren’t as foxed out as they’re hyped to be.

Nokia’s going the drain too. Their quality has deteriorated from what it used to be.

I dont really agree with you wen u say that Nokia’s quality is going down… In my opinion Nokia is famous to make the most sturdiest phones ever, they are always innovating and coming out with some seriously nice stuff in terms of applicationsa n products.

And every company has a life cycle, they cant be same all the time.. but in this case i give credit to Nokia they have been leaders since the time they came and they continue to be till now…Kudos to them for maintaing such a strong brand hold on people and such a hold can only be maintained if the consumers are happy with the product and the quality it maintains

I personally dont have anything against iPhone, infact love teh looks but the prob. is that its only the looks. features wise dosent have much to offer whereas N96 so full of it, cant seem to get enuf…..

I spoke to one of Nokia’s representatives and the price is expected to be around Rs. 37000-40000. Whoa!

I have a Nokia 5300. Got it in November last year. Good features, sturdy looking, I get to do what I really want to (call & sms). Now I’m very careful with the charging part. I make it a point to pull the charger pin out of my phone once my phone says that its fully charged. It been 9 months since I got this now. I have to charge it every night before I go to sleep cuz the battery gets drained out by the end of the day. And this is after I barely use it for an hour to talk.

My girlfriend on the other hand got a Motorola in 2006. She charges her phone once in 2-3 days and uses it a LOT more than I do.

Nokias may be aesthetically good and have a really cool UI inside, but honestly, I have more trouble getting signal with it than I did when I used a samsung earlier. My next fone’s going to be anything but Nokia.

any phone to compete with the iphone 3g must have a touch screen even if it had 100′s of extra functions..

Slightly off the subject perhaps, but a plea for people to consider the ethics of buying items like designer clothes. Do try and think about, for example, the materials the item is manufactured from, the human rights of the employees where they’re manufactured and the green credentials of retailers. And try to recycle instead of throwing away. Thanks!!!!
