For us Indians it’s quite a common piece of news these days. It’s never too surprising to tune into a news channel and find an explosion or a terrorist activity. We leave all daily soaps and are glued to the TV screen. The news channels broadcast the most interesting and deadly reality shows on Indian television. It has become a part of our lives now.
Terror has become more innovative during the past few years. They don’t repeat what they did during their earlier strikes. They keep on doing something different every time they attack us. Be it busy streets, markets, posh colonies, five star hotels, hospitals etc. they just don’t stop.
And it’s sad we’ve made it a part of our lives and we move on after each incident. It’s like we’re telling them, guys it’s OK! You come here and drop a bomb or two. We make a few comments, a few arrests and then we tend to neglect stuff. We tend to forget it. From page 1 to page 4 and ultimately the story gets off the newspapers.
It’s not that we don’t know. Oh yes! We know who is the one responsible. We know where you get the training, the funds, the support from. We’re just too lazy to hit you. We’re from the land of Gandhi you know. George Bush went as far as Afghanistan to remove that slightest possible piece of sperm that could produce terror for the United States in the future. He doesn’t give a damn who gets killed. He’s concerned about the security in the US. And yet we people don’t learn any lessons.
We’re still happy making lists and passing them on to our sweet little neighbours hoping they’d pass on terrorists to us. We still run around the International community telling them about the terror outfits in the PoK. I say why do we have such arms and ammunition with us? I say why are we spending millions on defense when we don’t need nothing. We should just sit here and wait. Wait to be terrorized by another attack. I say how many attacks do we need before we stand up against it? I say why doesn’t the Government understand innocent people are losing lives daily for nothing? I say we stop paying taxes to the Government. I say we ask the Government what has it done, what is it doing and what can it do to make us feel secure out there on the streets. There’s a billion of us out there. No one cares if a few die.
Shame on us. Shame on the Government. Shame.
