If you ask anyone about what a typical Yash Raj soundtrack is all about, you’ll get the same reply. A few romantic numbers, one or two dance/disco based tracks, a sad song (very important) and a few so-so tracks here and there. No matter how hard they try to ‘create’ something new each time, they fail. Or may be they succeed in making the same kind of music every time to keep risks at bay. I don’t remember any recent decent soundtrack from their banner. None.
Dil Bole Hadippa stars Rani Mukherjee and F…err..Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. The soundtrack has been composed by Pritam. What? Yes! It’s Pritam. At first I thought those folks at Yash Raj went bankrupt or something and then I thought may be really like this guy’s music. Now after listening to the music I am dead sure these folks have no money. They hired Pritam to compose the music for them. What were they thinking? It’s like jumping off a plane knowing you have a torn parachute. Even that has a 0.1% chance of saving your ass in the long run. But Pritam? Seriously guys, if you want people to see your movies then you need a good soundtrack. That’s how Bollywood works. If Pritam wasn’t enough, news of Rani Mukherjee sporting a bikini in the flick spread like fire across the media. Anyone who saw those promos of her wearing a so called bikini wants to die now.
Let’s get back to the music now.
Track Listing
Hadippa
Mika is the new Daler Mehendi. Ever since this dude kissed Rakhi Sawant he has been all over. Same for Rakhi too. Strange what just a little kiss can do. Hadippa is probably the title track for the film. Pritam has tried his best in coming up with a funky Punjabi tune mashed with what I call insane lyrics. He’s obviously failed. Failed big time brother!
Disco Wale Khisko
K.K., Sunidhi Chauhan and Rana M team up for this attempted dance track. Every time you listen to this track you’ll want to bang your head in the wall. Pritam is doing everything Himesh Reshammiya did except for the nasal insanity. This track gets irritating after the first fifty seconds. This should set new standards for Yash Raj soundtracks. They have never been so miserable.
Ishq Hi Rab Hai
A romantic track follows with Sonu Nigam and Shreya Goshal. Sonu has been away from what he does the best, sing these kind of songs. This track with appeal to all those love birds out there. Did I like it? I think it’s better than the previous two tracks for sure.
Bhangra Bistar
Alisha Chinoy, Hard Kaur and Sunidhi Chauhan sing this next track called Bhangra Bistar. The song goes something like this;
Agae ji oye,
Agae ji Punjab de sher with..
..Bhanga bistar beer batere.
WTH? WTF? No further comments as I move to the next track.
Gym Shym
Remember Joshiley? I didn’t either. These guys came up with the original Meri Bhains Ko Danda kyo Maara track. Gym Shym is something on the same lines. Without laying any stress on making sense it mixes English and Punjabi to give you a Pinglish track. Pretty average stuff.
