Music Review: Billu Barber

billu barber music review

Billu Barber is the latest flick straight from the queen Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment banner. Yes it’s Gauri Khan. Billu Barber stars Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta and features Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. The music has been composed by Pritam. Here is the music review!

Marjaani
shah rukh and kareena star in marjaani

The soundtrack begins with Marjaani. The track is a typical Pritam track featuring hey-I’ve-heard-this-tune like feeling. The song’s video features Shah Rukh and Kareena dancing all the way to glory foolishly. Just for the sake of creating something catchy they have abused the very meaning of music. The lyrics, ‘Marjaani Marjaani…khasma nu khae marjaani..’ aren’t exactly articulate. Mr. Gulzar you need to retire.

Love Mera Hit Hit

Talk about catchy numbers and here’s another one thrown at music listeners. Neeraj Shridhar’s voice to me is like hey-buy-this-music kind. This track features Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan who try to re-create that OSO chemistry on screen once again. They failed miserably! The video is as pathetic as this song. Two miserable opening tracks from an album I was anticipating about.

You Got Me Rocking and Reeling

The next track features Neeraj Shridhar along with lyrics by Sayeed Quadri. Finally a song worth tuning in to. Decent music along with lyrics that go along smoothly with the music. This is one of my favorite tracks in the soundtrack. This song will surely catch on. The video stars Priyanka Chopra along with Shah Rukh Khan. Whoa! Three chicks in a row!

Ae Aa O

This next track is more of a commercial on Shah Rukh Khan. KK’s voice stands out throughout the noisy music on lyrics by Neeraj Shridhar. You’ll need to grab a Disprin tablet to go through this track. A shitty track.

Jaoon Kahaan

Somehow they realized the soundtrack was getting into a fuss and in comes Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to the rescue. A decent track but there’s nothing to like in this track. A slow melody along with a sad feeling. I’m done with sad songs.

Billoo Bhayankar

Down with the sadness. In comes the fun! Billoo Bhayankar is a fun track on the protagonist in the movie. A fun song you’ll love to hum along!

Khudaya Khair

One crazy soundtrack. Khudaya Khair is another attempt to save the soundtrack. A decent track to say the least. Pritam is one music composer I must avoid at all cost. Gulzar seems to have lost that majestic touch that once reflected from his lyrics.

The soundtrack also comprises of 8 remixes that are not even worth mentioning. This review has driven me nuts and I’m so mad right now, I feel like throwing this CD away. Screw you Pritam! Screw the hype on this flick!

Catchy music is what Bollywood music is all about. Don’t look for any sense in the pool of nonsense. Pritam is at his usual best of creating hopeless soundtracks!

It seems you’ve found the way to popularity finally. Congrats! Last time I saw Yuvvraaj’s review and found you avoiding A R Rehman. This time you’re avoiding Pritam and Gulzar. Truly CRITICAL. :)

Good going HJ. Criticize everyone n be popular. That’s the way!

Yeah… Never commented before on a review site but for some reason, the reviewer doesn’t seem to be liking any of the people involved in the music creation.

Music is there just to enjoy… if it makes you smile or at least make you hum once, then its has done its job! :)

I think people need to avoid these reviews from now on… Pritam was the most succesful music director of last 2 years , He a done a good job here to.. though not as good as his previous one’s .. But really first Bhootni ke and now khasma nu khae marjaani should have been avoided..

Dude, you are a retard! If you are going to write a review then at least make sure you know a thing or two about it.
Marjaani’s tune is the copy of Mauja Mauja. And what do you expect from a guy who has more than 10 copyright cases on him!
Ae Aa O and Love Mera Hit are pretty cool track-bad lyrics but still catchy!
Over all the songs are OK!

I would say it should get 2.5/5 not 1/5
I wonder how would you rate Dev D’s songs?!

14 shalinee February 13, 2009 at 6:29 pm

You folk who are in opposition to what this reviwer has said are dumber than expected. Seems like you never ever heard of good music, and apparently Pritam’s music is good to you. Think about all the artists from across the world who Pritam copies and then receives accolades for it!!!Shame.I dont disagree that it sounds good to the ear but it is not music that will resonate for life times to come, think back SD Burman,RD Burman, Illaiyaraja, Kalyanji Anandji, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Madan Mohan, Naushad, OP Nayyar.Heard about these folk???
