3 idiots full review
Here’s a review of 3 Idiots. No spoilers attached.

Prologue

What can I say? It’s been a while. It’s been a while. I’ve lost count on the number of days gone by since I posted something on this blog. Harry been bugging me all this while, at one point he got so depressed that he almost gave up on those reminders. From daily to weekly and from weekly to no e-mails. I would have joined back after my winter vacations but I did something so idiotic this evening that I had to vent my feelings out. I signed up for a paid preview for the screening of Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots. Not that I paid a huge amount to be amongst known celebrities and the usual Page 3 babes but it’s Aamir Khan’s most anticipated film of the year.

The Movie

3 Idiots stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in lead roles. It’s Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s third film together after Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai topped the box office charts at their respective releases. As you all know 3 Idiots is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling (may I also add crappy?) novel Five Point Someone. Enough of rolling the credits, now let’s tell you what you’re reading this text, yes this one right here, for. The review. Is 3 Idiots good? Is it worth it? Is it bad? Is it over-hyped?

The Review

To be very honest Aamir Khan disappointed me with Ghajini. He wasn’t himself in Taare Zameen Par. When you go to a movie like 3 Idiots you expect to be awed. There were days when the hero in a Bollywood flick made an appearance and the crowd were flabbergasted. Not anymore, not anymore. 3 Idiots begins on a sad note, a pretty boring one too. The first fifteen minutes I spent was checking out who’s who at the paid preview while the movie continued to bore me. Until the first half of the movie there’s only one thing that you should look forward to, the twist. *giggles*

I had to jump the queue to make sure I don’t miss the start after the interval as Page 3 babes can be such a turn off at the counter, speaking non-stop on their phones. I wonder if they’re faking it. Anyways the movie begins and I give it another shot. Come on guys, come on and surprise me. Throw something at me, I’ll post an awesome review, I’ll watch it again, I’ll tell my friends to watch it for sure, I’ll agree with Harry on his Anti-Twilight reviews, anything! Kareena Kapoor is so disappointing. She’s so like hey-I-got-paid-I-won’t-act-well kinda babe. Gosh! I hate her. The second half of the movie is equally pathetic if nothing else. Shantanu Moitra’s music is a pain in the ears. The song All Izz Well sounds so rickshaw-wallah-ish. 3 Idiots has lived up to it’s name, getting idiots out of everyone.

Epilogue

The movie ends and what a relief. People might come out liking the movie but you’ll know it’s only for Aamir Khan. 3 Idiots is a loser. A big one. Don’t go to 3 Idiots expecting anything, don’t pay a premium to watch it on a weekend, don’t carry your brains, carry your smartphone with you to kill time or even better take your boyfriend along so you can catch up on the mushy-mushy stuff. 3 Idiots is highly not recommended. You’d have to be an idiot to watch this one. I’d rather see Avatar in 3D again and again and then New Moon. And probably slit my throat after that.

The Rating – 2/5

The Advice

BTW 3 Idiots will be available on YouTube legally in 3-4 weeks after the release. That is the best way to catch the movie, free.
