Looks like Microsoft’s Zune Phone, the Project Pink ‘Turtle’ phone, has arrived at FCC for approval. It seems like Microsoft has partnered with Sharp to make the Microsoft phone for them. This may be one of the Pink devices Microsoft plans to launch in the near future. Whether Microsoft will launch the ‘Turtle’ phone during Mobile World Conference this year is still a question on everyone’s mind.
If you take a look at Sharp’s application for the phone it is indeed similar to the phone Gizmodo revealed some time around last year.
Things are indeed getting pretty interesting now. Will Apple’s Steve Jobs admitting how Google might be trying to kill the iPhone with it’s Nexus One, I really wanna see how he sees Microsoft’s plan on making it to the smartphone sector with it’s Pink devices. I guess we’ll have to wait for the Mobile World Congress.
Infibeam Pi – The Desi Amazon Kindle
in Tech
At a time when I believe Amazon Kindle might be having nightmares about the much dreaded Apple Tablet launch, here’s a desi challenge. Infibeam, an Indian online shopping portal, has announced an e-book reader called Infibeam Pi. The new e-book reader looks very similar to Amazon’s Kindle which has been around for a while now. Infibeam is now taking pre-orders for it’s Pi device at Rs. 999 (around $20). The device is priced at Rs. 9999 (around $220).
Infibeam Pi is a slim and light e-book reader. It supports major Indian regional languages such as Hindi, Sanskrit etc. The company claims the device can store up to 500 e-books using it’s internal memory of 512 MB. Infibeam Pi has a SD car slot as well. You can store and listen to your music as well, Pi features a 3 mm stereo earphone connector (3 mm is strange, I’ve seen 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm but 3 mm? Anyways it could be a typo as well). I’ve shot the company a mail about this. The battery can run up to 7 days if left idle and comes with a charging time of 4 hours. The major let down is the screen. The screen is a 6″ E Ink® Vizplex with no backlight.
