So who’s proud to be an Indian?

in Life,Nonsense

i am not proud to be an indian

I don’t care if they shoot me down after this. I don’t care if the Government bans me from writing on public blogs. I don’t care if you guys reading this verbally abuse me. I don’t care if I am banned from my nationality. For the millionth time I just wanna tell the world that I am not proud to be an Indian.

I am no different. I am not out of my mind. I’m just like each one of the billion people who call themselves Indians. The same people who abuse the country, it’s politicians, corruption etc. countless times during the day and once an year they chant, ‘Vande Mataram’.

I am no different. I am a part of the lakhs of students in the country. The same set of students who work very hard in studies just to sit for an exam that could be their ticket out of the country. These same set of students feel for India. These are the same students who go sentimental after watching Rang De Basanti. These are the same students who then forget all morals and commit crime. These are the same students who work at top notch MNCs, buy from International brands, eat at Mc Donalds. And they still say, ‘Mera Bharat Mahaan’.

I am no different. I hate all the bad things like corruption and prejudice. I don’t pretend that I like the nation, like you. I hate the national anthem being played at movie theaters. I hate the roads filled with dirty water. I hate the filthy politicians. I hate our so called system.

like that enthusiasm from pratik.. i share those same views.. i secretly hope India will be a giant in the near future.. i know it can be zillion times better than it is now... but it has serious problems with serious repercussions which needs to be looked into..
  • Dear all. I born in India so I love my country and it is quite obvious...but it doesn't mean that I must be proud to be an Indian. We should see and realize the ground zero facts of our country and the condition of our countrymen. In some historic eventful occasions like 15th August or 26th january we will hold our national flag and make a parade and we will say emotionally that "I am proud to be an Indian" It doesn't work at all. The following reasons never make us proud as an Indian.
We are the second largest population in the world and after 63 rd years of independence still more than 42% (almost near to 0.5 billion people) citizens are living below poverty level. Their income is only $1.25 per day per capita. our condition is worst than the poor countries in Africa. It's not a matter of pride.
Our so called developments are only cities or better to say to the richer class of the cities oriented. In a bigger city like Mumbai 55% peoples live in slum. I do believe you shouldn't be proud of that.

Our developments are not equally distributed. We don't have sufficient infrastructures to save food grains. The wasted quantity of food grains are equivalent to one day consumption of 12 million peoples. It can't be a matter of pride.

As on date every top level decision makers for the government are badly corrupted in every field. I agree that corruptions are found in every country but at least other countries have developed themselves and they didn't compromise with their citizens life style.

We are very proud that in our country we have such premier institutions like IITs, IIMs, etc. but the geniuses are passing out from those institutions are looking for a better job in abroad which is certainly not a matter of pride.

We tell other countries as a racist country but If we look at ourselves we are the most racists country in the world. We fight internally on basis of regional languages, cultures and locations. We shouldn't be proud to be an Indian rather we should be proud to be a tamilian or marathi or telegu or bengali or bihari or oriya or so on........

There are so many reasons that never makes us proud practically. any way but of course we love our country and we want our country to grow.
My request to all responsible citizens of my country is only to tell or express the truth not to express anything which you really don't believe. Thank you.

@neetu Taking pride in being an Indian isnt about fake belief of accomplishment or fake pride.. its about the things our fellow Indians that made us proud.. and the positive stuff we have in our culture.. n as of the downsides.. i know there are lots.... infact truckloads of them.. but that doesnt mean u'll start hating it jus for the heck of it.. change is coming.. even if u cant see it.. it may be slow.. bt it certainly is there.. wot ur final opinion is gonna be.. is upto you.. but thats wot life is about.. being glad about the good things.. n trying to make the not-so-good things better! n.. which system is perfect btw??

@JM you belong to a nation of loosers.. being torn of wars.. and jus because u live/were born in Austrailia doesnt make u great or smthing! the fact is you are not at all in a position to comment on Indians.. jus go see ur own backyard first.. then talk about others.

    @Indians: Jai hind!

It is impossible not to be astonished by India. Nowhere on Earth does humanity present itself in such a dizzying, creative burst of cultures and religions, races and tongues. Enriched by successive waves of migration and marauders from distant lands, every one of them left an indelible imprint which was absorbed into the Indian way of life. Every aspect of the country presents itself on a massive, exaggerated scale, worthy in comparison only to the superlative mountains that overshadow it. It is this variety which provides a breathtaking ensemble for experiences that is uniquely Indian. Perhaps the only thing more difficult than to be indifferent to India would be to describe or understand India completely. There are perhaps very few nations in the world with the enormous variety that India has to offer. Modern day India represents the largest democracy in the world with a seamless picture of unity in diversity unparalleled anywhere else.

India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border.

Max Mueller, German scholar: "If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered on the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions, I should point to India."...

Evryone has there views, but JM biatch, u wer totally outta place...go mind your own country(which i m not sure of),,,:
if Sri Lanka, - den, Waste production of the households measured seems to be in the range of 100-300 g per day, not including waste materials that were recycled or re-used. Households in more rural areas often seem to use their organic waste as animal feed (not necessarily for their own animals) or for composting.

The average composition of the household waste we measured (by weight), seems to be roughly as follows: 15%-30% plastics, 30%-40% paper, 0-30% organic fraction and 10%-30% rest-fraction. The plastic and paper fractions make up most of the volume of household waste, but can be significantly compressed. The organic fraction makes a relatively large contribution to the total weight, due to its high density and water-content.

Packaging materials make up more than half of the plastic and paper fractions, both by weight and by volume. A significant part of the paper-fraction is already made of recycled materials. Only a small part (less than half) of the plastic fraction would be easy to recycle mechanically. Most packaging materials produced in Sri Lanka do not state the material type.

Restaurants and eating-houses produce a lot of food and kitchen remains, which are usually collected by local pig farmers, who use it as animal feed. Retail shops produce mostly packaging waste. So, this is worse den d shithole (which u conveniently called India!)...so wats Sri lanka??? the shit dat comes out of the hole...

If Australia: How would you go about fixing these problems that have been dominating the headlines of late in Australia?
    1.Bikie gang wars
    2.NRL players always in trouble
3.Economic crisis ( Worse den India!)
    4.Drought
5.What about the social unrest from Mundine not fighting the best??The increasingly vicious resort by both federal and state governments in Australia to police repression to deal with deep-rooted social deprivation in Aboriginal communities was on display in a chilling riot squad operation last month.

n neetu babes, well forget it...if u didn get how gr8 India is all ur lyf, a few lines here n der wont help either!!!
itz courtesy indian democracy u can cum up wid such shit...try it in China...heard of d tiananmen square???

Yo' i do not agree with you. i know im too young to comment, but this is OUR country, nation and NATIONALITY. If we dont be proud of it then who the hell is supposed to be? It is right that there is corruption but it is WE the people who toss this aside like thrash and dont give much of importance to it. if we, the YOUTH put our heart and soul for our soil we will be the LEADER OF THE WORLD. and being the leader doesnt mean powerful in war n stuff....it is about being the most influencial power of the world. You are expressing your views and its all rite...but u should be a little respectful to our country. If we respect our nation, respect ourselves, people look at us with respect. thats all i had to say...rest is up to you... :)
PROUD OF OUR NATION AND PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN!!

common Neetu grow up. If eating at Mc Donald's and working in MNC's makes you un-patriotic. Then ask your friend to use his actual name Harjinder/Harminder and not Harry (I'm sure his parents did not name him Harry).

You are too little to understand this.

Heh ... good to hear views about INDIA from someone whose own nationality includes a slash(/) [:P] , dude please sort out where you are from exactly , before commenting on us ...

I don't see why anyone should be proud of India. I'm Sri Lankan/Australian and Indians are the most hated ethnic group here. You do the most menial of jobs, stink so much because you don't shower, speak in your horrible accents so fucking loud in the trains, play your stupid music for everyone to hear and still think India is a superpower. Why does everyone want to leave your country if it's so good? All the Indian students who come here want to migrate.

The reason we hate you is not because we are jealous of you. It's because you are cheap, untrustworthy, dirty people from a smelly shithole of a country where people shit on the streets.
  • Indian
You Mr.SriLankan.... yes your country is really really great. Ha Ha Ha LOL thats funny. The same country which still depends on india's support to survive. A country which is known for LTTE and Sluts ... lol ur country is great...Really Great... Be proud to be a SriLankan cum Australian.
  • @Diya: CAPS won't change my opinion baby. You can't compare the country with people like your parents. You can still live with ugly people but not with dead people. You burn/bury dead people, you're scared of dead people. That's exactly the position our country is into right now. DEAD!

@jaskaran: I am not gaining anything from hating this country. I am just penning down my opinion. If that pricks you hard, just live with it man, coz that's what the gravity of reality is.

    @Kumar: Whatever!

@Ajay: This is not an Ekta Kapoor show. Look ma, no glycerine! And I seriously didn't get your point. Try hard. Try explaining.
