Maruti Suzuki plans to launch it’s brand new small car Cervo in India. The car will directly compete with low cost carTata Nano on the Indian roads. Although Maruti’s Cervo will be priced a little higher than Tata Nano, the car will aim to attract most of the low segment buyers including Maruti 800, Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Alto. Maruti might be looking at revamping the entire small car segment here with it’s Cervo. Maruti is looking to place it’s new small car Cervo as an alternative to it’s highest selling small car Maruti 800.
There’s no official word from Maruti as yet about the specifications of Cervo. The car is expected to launch with a 1 litre K-Series engine. Maruti might price it’s Cervo close to Maruti 800 provided the fact that it’s supposed to be an alternative to Maruti 800. It’ll be interesting to see how auto majors like Hyundai, General Motors and Hyundai react to this news as all of them are aiming to strike the small car segment with new cars very soon.
