Bride Wars
Starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway, Bride Wars is a romantic comedy. The film is based on two best friends who plan their wedding on the same day which results in, what we all love to see on screen, chaos. A perfect date movie, you could also enjoy this with friends and especially your girl friends.
He’s Just Not That Into You
News has it that Jennfier Aniston agreed to present the Oscars this year only to promote this film of hers. The film also stars Ben Affleck and is a dating scene romantic comedy. Apart from these two the film boasts of having Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Justin Long, Kevin Connolly and Scarlett Johannsson as the star cast of the film. Definitely something worth looking out for. A fun filled movie.
Watchmen
Watchmen is finally coming to theaters this March. The film is about a group of superheros. I personally won’t mind another superhero movie. It is believed that it took them 22 years to get this movie on the big screen. Whoa! I hope they don’t delay it any further.
Race to Witch Mountain
Dwayne Johnson is back, again, with an updated version of a Disney’s classic. The film boasts of some really fine special effects. Also starring AnnaSophia Robb and Carla Gugino, the film is expected to be released later during March. I personally don’t like ‘The Rock’ anymore but I won’t mind this movie!
Duplicity
Clive Owen and Julia Roberts team up for this thriller. Duplicity stars the Closer co-stars donning the roles of an ex-CIA agent (Julia Roberts) and a former MI6 operative (Clive Owen). The film’s tagline ‘Outwit. Outspy. Outsmart. Outplay. Then get out.’ is quite catchy and so is the plot. A film worth looking out for especially for all Julia Roberts fans.
Monsters vs. Aliens
Remember the animated movie Monsters? Well now they’re up against some nasty aliens! The film features voice overs by Reese Witherspoon, Hugh Laurie and Seth Rogen. The film releases in the later half of March 2009. Can’t wait for this one!
Fast & Furious
The original gang is back with a bang in this fourth edition of the Fast and the Furious series of flicks. Expect some smashing music, fast cars and hot ladies. A must-see action flick for all movie lovers. The film is coming out early April 2009.
17 Again
Zac Efron is trying to do what Tom Hanks excelled in Forrest Gump. Zac is playing a thirty something loser who seems to be stuck in a 17-year-old-like figure. Will he be able to live up to the expectations? All I know is that he’s got the chicks buying the tickets for sure.
The Soloist
Robert Downey, Jr. will finally get to display his unlimited talent with The Soloist. The film was pushed from 2008 for some reasons-I-don’t-bother about. The film is based on a true story of a homeless musician. Robert plays the role of a Los Angeles Times journalist. A must-see film for all!
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Just when you thought you’ve had enough of those nasty mutants here’s Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine. The film will set off the summer 2009 movie fiesta. The trailer looks slick with all those special effects. A must-see 2009 flick!
Angels & Demons
Tom Hanks returns with this Dan Brown’s bestseller, a follow-up to The Da Vinci Code. So Robert Langdon sets off on another adventure. Critics were not really impressed with the way the previous film was made as it didn’t quite give full justice to the book. But then books are way much better than movies based on them.
Terminator: Salvation
How good is Christian Bale in John Connor’s shoes? He certainly looks stupid to me in Batman’s. The Terminator: Salvation promos look really cool. The film is set in 2018 when the war between Skynet and humans is still on. A must-see fourth installment of the Terminator series.
Drag Me to Hell
I think 2008 wasn’t scary at all. I mean from the movies point of view. The director of Spiderman and Evil Dead, Sam Raimi, will try to scare us in 2009 with this horror film. The film stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long. Hell may still be be an option but the flick will certainly drag your to the theaters. A must-see horror flick!
Up
Pixar is back with an adventure! It’s such a happy feeling to watch Pixar’s movies. Up is based on a 78 year old Carl’s adventures as he ties a load of balloons to his house to enable him to visit South American. A must-see animated flick in 2009!
The Proposal
Sandra Bullock stars in this yet another chick-flick romantic comedy. The film revolves around Sandra playing a boss who forces her assistant to marry her to save her from being deported to her native country Canada. Also starring Ryan Reynolds and Malin Akerman.
The Taking of Pelham 123
It’s the clash of Hollywood titans! Denzel Washington and John Travolta star in this remake in this film directed by Tony Scott. The film’s plot revolves around a New York subway train hijacking. A must-see 2009 thriller flick!
Year One
Here comes the gold in comedy. Jack Black and Michael Cera star in this 2009 comedy about two lazy villagers who embark on some really wild adventures after they are banished from their native place. I can’t wait to see this one!
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Transformers are back and they’re bigger, better and meaner. It is believed that the previous Transformers was still in theaters when director Michael Bay started working on the sequel. Cool! Another must-see action film in 2009!
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
What’s good about summers? Holidays, home-cooked food and the movies. Ice Age returns to the big screen with Dawn of the Dinosaurs. The third installment from the Ice Age factory is a must-see animated film for summer 2009!
Public Enemies
Did somebody ask for Johnny Depp? Here is comes along with Christian Bale. The two team up for the first time ever in this crime/drama movie. The film is expected to be released during summer 2009. The plot is based on the 1930s crime scene. Now you don’t need reasons to watch this one. A must-see movie this summer!
2012
Roland Emmerich’s 2012 is based on the Mayan prophecy which believes the world is going to end by the end of 2012. The Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow director is a perfect dude to make a movie on such a topic. A must-see before the world actually comes to an end!
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman are back with the Half-Blood Prince. A delight for all Potter fans and summer movie lovers.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
We’ve all played with the toys. It’s time to see them in action on the big screen. I think G.I. Joe toys were boys’ answer to the Barbie doll. Coming back to the movie, the trailer looks slick. Although I have my doubts whether the movie will live up to the expectations but it’s a must-see on my list of movies.
The Informant
Matt Damon stars in this spy-thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh. Based on a true story the film’s plot revolves around a biochemist and a FBI agent who manage to shut down a major global plan. A must-see flick in 2009!
Disney’s A Christmas Carol
What better way to end 2009? Jim Carrey stars in this Disney’s remake. Carrey plays Scrooge in the film. A must-must-see for Christmas 2009!
