It’s been in the rumor mills for quite some time now. Nokia, it seems, is indeed working on a Windows based tablet. As of now they’re pretty much as clueless as a monkey in a strip club. Their new Windows Phone 8 based devices are gradually shipping across the globe, as the struggling mobile phone manufacturer is working hard to make its mark all over again. They’ve come up with some pretty neat devices – Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and the much affordable Lumia 620.
Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop said, “We haven’t announced tablets at this point, but it is something we are clearly looking at very closely. We are studying very closely the market right now as Microsoft has introduced the Surface tablet, so we are trying to learn from that and understand what the right way to participate would be and at what point in time.”
In layman terms it almost translates into, “Hey! Microsoft made a tablet, we can and we will make one too. May be people will buy that. May be we’ll take Apple’s peice of the pie in the tablet market. May be not.”
Who am I kidding?
Unless something radical happens, Nokia is on its way to introduce Windows 8 based tablets in the near future. It may happen as early as the end of 2013, who knows. What is certain now is that Nokia isn’t going to shy away from the idea. A Nokia Windows 8 based tablet looks good on the paper. I’m not sure if people would be really excited.
How about first selling a few million Lumia phones, Nokia?
