I was really waiting for Farhan Akhtar’s second movie after Rock On! Especially when it had another one of the Akhtar family involved, his sister Zoya Akhtar is the director of the movie. So I booked my tickets online a day before to keep the Friday flicks rush at bay. Farhan doesn’t get to sing songs in this one but he does prove a point as far as his acting skills are concerned. He’s a great actor. Luck By Chance is another one of those Bollywood flicks making a mockery of Bollywood itself. Or should I say, as Dimple Kapadia puts it, the Hindi film industry. The film deals with the crazy world of Indian cinema which is filled with all kinds of people. Some major Bollywood stars have made special appearances including Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Khanna, Vivek Oberoi, Diya Mirza, Kareena Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan. I’m sure I still missed some names. Anyways the movie isn’t as special as I thought it would be. Some old stuff we already know about Bollywood. Konkana Sen Sharma’s brilliant performance makes it a special flick. Farhan is great as usual. Rishi Kapoor is cute and Dimple Kapadia is classic. Hrithik doesn’t get much of the cake but he’s still sweet enough. The music is pretty neat. Luck By Chance will test your patience if you’re not into slow movies. I guess Zoya Akhtar didn’t quite make the best of the resources she had. This could have been a lot more better. On the whole, a decent enough flick if you go in there without expecting anything. Nothing too special.
