Fun filled Dostana is not just another Karan Johar movie. Tears have been kept to a minimum. Some great performances by people like Boman Irani and Kirron Kher. A must-watch in case you have exams coming up and you need to keep your mind in the relaxed state. The music is really good!

This was ‘Wow’! Certainly after Quantum of Solace bombed my brain, this was a major relief. Intelligent film making as expected from Coen Borthers. Great performances by everyone. A must watch if you really want to lighten things up in life and especially if you have killer exams approaching!

I am disappointed. A James Bond movie always impressed me with a superb plot. Quantum of Solace lacks a good plot. A reason that makes all James Bond movies worth the money. The story lacks substance and is poorly told. James Bond goes out on an action filled killing spree for no good reason. I had a lot of expectations from this movie. Skip this one unless someone else is paying for the tickets.

Music Review: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

After my last music review a lot of people feel I need to quit reviewing music. A lot of them also hold the opinion that I must quit blogging. Well it’s because of people like these that Raj Thackeray finds himself alive every morning. Let’s not get into that now.

Aditya Chopra is finally back on the director’s chair eight long years. All this time he’s occupied the happy producer tag and see some films bomb under the Yash Raj Films banner. He decided it’s finally time to get out and do something good for daddy. So he wrote Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, signed Shah Rukh Khan and a new chic Anushka Sharma. The last time Aditya and Shah Rukh was a jodi it was Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

The first look of the film looked interesting. The first promo of the song Haule Haule simply blew my mind. It was nothing extraordinary and yet there was something magically simple in there. Something Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge proved a long back that simplicity can also work at the box office. The music of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is finally out. The music has been composed by Salim Sulaiman. The film is slated for a December 12 release this year. Will the Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films magic work? You bet! The hype is exploding and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Let’s check out if the music is worth the hype!

The soundtrack comprises of six tracks. A typical Yash Raj strategy. Concentrate on quality. The first track Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai captures your ears with a sugary melody. A slow romantic number and it fits into the Shah Rukh’s romantic genre. The next track is Haule Haule by Sukhwinder Singh. This is the song on which the first promo is based. I am really impressed with the way it has been shot. It has been sung really well by Sukhwinder. The lyrics are simple and meaningful. A sweet song and the best song of the soundtrack. The next track Dance Pe Chance has been sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Labh Janjua. A typical dance number but a decent one. Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte has been sung by Sonu Nigam. The song is a mixture of popular golden Bollywood melodies. Another sweet song. It’s followed by Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai, which is a short female version of the first track. Dancing Jodi, the last track of the soundtrack, is like a jiffy revision before the final examination. It’s a remix of almost all the songs in the soundtrack.

It has all what you expect from a Yash Raj movie soundtrack. It’s got Shah Rukh pulling you into the movie theaters. It’s got Aditya Chopra, the director, creating the hype. Salim Sulaiman have done a good job with the music of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The soundtrack comprises of some excellent tracks.

On the whole I’ll say it passes the test. Music is as expected. Good!

The past one week has been one hell of a ride. As it comes to an end tonight I am left with memories. Memories that I won’t cherish for the rest of my life. And then there are some that I would. The Diwali break was important as it was the last one week of holidays I could spend at home before the monster month of semester examination appeared.

Last Friday I came back home on a CTU (Chandigarh Transport Undertaking) bus along with my roomie Ankur. The ride was pretty smooth as it was way past midnight. It was only at the Delhi bypass where a load of bhaiyas got on the bus. It seemed like they were trying to rob the passengers, the way they boarded the bus. Anyways they went to sleep in a couple of minutes and hence no spitting pan, fowl language or other trademark bhaiyas stuff.

There’s nothing better than coming back home. It’s a feeling better left undefined. In Faridabad it’s a different kind of an undefined feeling, it’s like someone just divided by zero. It was my birthday on 27th October followed by Diwali on 28th October. So the first few days went really awesome.

It was only after these days that I realized that my BSNL Dataone connection at home wasn’t working. In fact the phone line was totally dead. Now that’s nothing new for a BSNL customer. So a simple complaint at 198 must resolve the issue. No. Not this time! It took them a week to repair the line and now when they’ve repaired it, I lost out on one week of work.

Apart from broadband it was Cable TV that I missed the most at home. During the day time I was usually outside celebrating life but when I came back home it was just too boring. My younger brother is having his Class 12th board exams next year. So the usual Indian philosophy of no-cable-tv-till-exams is being followed here.

Anyways I’m boarding a train early tomorrow morning. And then life is going to be like hell. Only this time I’m ready for it. Bring it on Faridabaaaaaaad!

Movie Review: Karz

If I had a pistol Himesh Reshammiya would have been a dead man by now. Karz is one movie they should show to Indian prisoners lodged in various jails across the nation. It’s a torture that could help us getting them off the crime charts. The music is as lousy as the movie. Urmila Matondkar please think about a retirement plan. Himesh could be thrown into a tandoor for that tandoori song! The movie is crap all the way.

One of the major advantages of being single is that you can stare at chicks all over. No guy would admit this openly but a guy feels choked while he’s committed to someone. You’ve gotta check out the hot chicks around, your eyes are tempted and your brain puts you off with a shut-up-and-look-away feeling. It’s not cheap. It’s biological.

Coming back to chicks here is the latest entry into the long list of hot Bollywood chicks. Mugdha Godse is a model turned actress. She is a commerce graduate from Symbiosis College. She was the winner at Gladrags Mega Model Contest. I say amen!

She is starring in Madhur Bhandarkar’s latest flick Fashion. The movie is going to release around Diwali. I am definitely checking her out!

Music Review: Yuvvraaj

Subhash Ghai is one guy who knows how important music is for a Bollywood movie. He makes a good effort to ensure quality to the last bit. His soundtracks sell better than his films sometimes. Remember Taal? A.R Rahman’s music topped the charts for a really long time and the film blew up at the box office. Subhash Ghai is back with another flick titled Yuvvraaj. The film stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan in lead roles. The music has been composed by A.R Rahman and the lyrics have been penned down by Gulzar. A typical Subhash Ghai menu. Yuvvraaj is slated for a November release. The music is finally out so let’s check it out!

The soundtrack starts with Salman Khan with the fifth of Beethoven trying to introduce his character in the film. As usual he’s more confusing than ever. Skip it and move to the next track Tu Meri Dost Hain (it is actually Hain and not Hai) which starts off really well. Sung by Banny Dayal and Shreya Goshal, the song is a soothing melody. The next track Shano Shano is a surprise from A.R Rahman. It sucks right from the moment it begins. Tu Muskura by Alka Yagnik and Javed Ali is another soft number. Gulzar’s lyrics are not as extraordinary as they usually are. Mastam Mastam is a typical A.R Rahman melody. It will remind you of Saathiya. Zindagi, the next track, reminds me of Hariharan. Rang De Basanti has a track which could easily be blamed for this song. Skip the next track. Manmohini Mere is my favourite track in the entire soundtrack. It has been sung by Vijay Prakash, a dude I have never heard of before, but he managed to make up for the bad music in the album. A slow yet excellent track. The soundtrack ends with a remix of Shano Shano. The remix is actually better than the original version.

On the whole, I really hope the double ‘V’ and ‘A’ work for Yuvvraaj. The soundtrack isn’t worth the money at all. Except for two tracks, the soundtrack is dull. Subhash Ghai and A.R Rahman have managed to disappoint. Finally!
